Royal Gibraltar Police Training Room Completed
After months of setbacks and uncertainties with international travel, Ultimat have completed fitting, signed off and handed over the new officer safety training facility for the Royal Gibraltar Police.
Planning and designing this state of the art dojo was started back in early 2019. Working closely with Magnus Kessack, Senior Quantity Surveyor for GJBS Building Contractors, Orfila Architects and the Royal Gibraltar Police, concepts and designs tailored to the speciality needs of the Royal Gibraltar Police were drawn up and approved for a brand new multi-use dojo training facility in 2019. The facility would have the capability to conduct the very latest methods of Officer Safety training, CED training, Firearms Training and a “Black wall” confined space scenario system.
Building work in Gibraltar and manufacturing the equipment in the UK was started by the middle of 2019. Wall padding, control and restraint flooring, CED targeting system and a significant ‘Black wall’ confined space system were all custom-made, packed and shipped to Gibraltar by late 2019, with a scheduled fitting for early 2020 that would coincide with the GJBS Building Contactors schedule of works.
However, because of the Covid-19 outbreak, things such as reliable flights, accommodation and access to site all became obstacles and caused much deliberation and uncertainty. Nevertheless with a lot of careful re-planning and co-operation from Magnus Kessack and his team, the Royal Gibraltar Police and ourselves we are pleased to say “job done” and yet another stunning training facility added to our list of fantastic design and build dojos.
Seven days after flying out our fitting team arrived back in the UK leaving extremely happy Royal Gibraltar Police officers who, after presenting staff with a commemorative wall plaque, are now able to move forward bringing many aspects of their training to a new level with a multitude of training scenarios. Our many thanks and best wishes to everyone who made this project possible.
